Cumbria Scouts welcome Fell Foodie, Harrison Ward as new County Ambassador

Cumbria Scouts have announced the appointment of outdoor cook and mental health advocate Harrison Ward, also known as Fell Foodie, as their latest Cumbria Scouts Ambassador, supporting over 3,000 young people across the county.

Harrison, a Cumbrian outdoor cooking expert known for creating restaurant-quality meals in remote locations using minimal equipment, will play an active role in inspiring young people across the county. With a strong following and appearances on national media, he brings a passion for the outdoors, practical skills and wellbeing to the role.

As part of his new ambassador role, Harrison will be joining Cumbria Scouts at Great Tower this June to judge their county cooking competition. The event will bring together Scout and Explorer Scout teams from all six Cumbrian Districts, showcasing their creativity, teamwork and outdoor cooking skills. Harrison will also spend time chatting with young people, sharing tips and encouraging them to give it a go outdoors.

Harrison’s own journey, from overcoming mental health challenges to finding purpose in the outdoors, strongly aligns with Scouts’ focus on building resilience, confidence and wellbeing in young people. His appointment highlights the positive impact outdoor adventure can have on both physical and mental health.

Eddie Ward (no relation), Lead Volunteer for Cumbria Scouts, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Harrison as our new County Ambassador. His passion for the outdoors, combined with his honesty about mental health and his incredible cooking skills, makes him a brilliant role model for our young people. We know he’ll inspire them to try new things, build confidence and enjoy everything that Scouting has to offer.”

Harrison Ward said: “I’m really proud to be joining Cumbria Scouts as a County Ambassador. Getting outdoors and learning practical skills has completely changed my life, and I’m passionate about helping others experience the same benefits. I’m especially looking forward to meeting the young people at Great Tower and seeing what they can create, outdoor cooking is all about having a go and enjoying the moment.”

Anyone interested in joining the adventure with Cumbria Scouts can find out more and get involved at www.cumbriascouts.org.uk.
